Karl's previous employments involved work as a designer for a local engineering firm and as a project manager for a local utility construction firm. Karl supervises the activities of four Divisions within Public Works: the Streets Division, the Water Division, the Sewer Division and the Electric Division. Assisting Karl on a day to day basis are four Leadman, who set work schedules and daily activities. The Department of Public Works operates daily from 7:00 am thru 3:30 pm. After hours emergencies are handled by the Control Center at 592-9373. Karl has served as a Trustee on the Executive Board of the Municipal Electric Utilities Association (MEUA), where he represents 44 different municipalities throughout New York State. Karl served as President for two years during his 12 year stay on the board. Karl has served as Secretary and President on the Board of Directors of the New York Municipal Power Agency (NYMPA). NYMPA is an agency that purchases supplemental electric power for 32 municipalities throughout New York State. Karl also serves as the contact person for the Erie County Public Works Association, which represents 16 villages in Erie County.
