COURT UPDATE, EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 8, 2020
By Directive of the Chief Judge and in compliance with the covid-19 protocols, all in person court appearances have been administratively adjourned and all upcoming court dates have been cancelled until further notice. Once we begin scheduling, letters will be mailed to those who need to appear.
Traffic court for violations and infractions will continue to be handled by mail. If you have received a ticket, please submit your guilty or not guilty plea as soon as possible for processing. Please mail it to our office at P.O. Box 362, Springville, NY 14141 or deliver it to our outdoor drop-box at 65 Franklin Street. If you plead not guilty, the Village Prosecutor will contact you by mail to address the case; if you plead guilty, the court will mail you a fine notice.
The Court Clerk’s office remains open to assist you during our regular business hours of Tuesday through Friday, 9am-12noon; we are closed on Mondays. However, to promote social distancing, we ask that you mail your correspondence, payments and pleas or leave them in our drop-box. THE COURT CLERKS ARE PROHIBITED FROM PROVIDING LEGAL ADVICE OR DIRECTION.
The Springville Justice Court is responsible for the adjudication of legal matters that occur within the geographic boundaries of the Village of Springville. Violations of traffic and penal law are handled monthly during open court sessions, while civil matters such as small claims cases and summary proceedings are scheduled on an as needed basis. The Village Prosecutor prosecutes all traffic and violation level matters, while the Erie County District Attorney’s office prosecutes all misdemeanor level offenses.

Monday: closed
Tuesday: 9:00am – 12:00noon
Wednesday: 9:00am – 12:00noon
Thursday: 9:00am – 12:00noon
Friday: 9:00am – 12:00noon
Court Days: 8:30am until the end of court
Court drop-box may be utilized during non-court hours for the delivery of correspondence and non-cash payments. Please be certain to include your name and phone number so that we may contact you with any questions. The drop-box is located outside of 65 Franklin, to the right of the double glass doors.
SMALL CLAIMS FILING
Small Claims proceedings may be brought by an individual against any person or entity who resides, or has a principal place of employment or business in the Village of Springville. The Court cannot order the return of personal items; lawsuits may be for money compensation only, up to a maximum of $3,000.00.
